Learning to breathe deeply and fully is vital to good health. Deep breathing will also release endorphines, natures pain killers. The practice of deep breathing can both calm you and energize you while at the same time building strength in the upper abdominal area, a definite plus!
Instructions:
Sitting up straight, inhale slowly through the nostrils until your lungs are filled to capacity, pause for a moment or two, holding the breath to the count of two to five, or whatever is reasonably comfortable for you.
Imagine that you are filling your body with air from the bottom up.
Now exhale fully and slowly through your mouth. Exhalation is a little longer than inhalation.
Repeat.
